The UDHS Indoor Drumline needs your help! Each year, this ensemble competes locally as well as competing in the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. The UDHS Indoor Drumline has attended the World Championships for the past several years, competing against many of the best drumlines in the world. In 2013, the UDHS Indoor Drumline placed first in the international competition and became the World Champions in their division. In 2014, the UDHS Indoor Drumline was so successful that they were promoted to the World Class division, the highest in the competition. Their accomplishments have been covered by both local and national news media and for the last two years, their return from Championships in Ohio was welcomed by a police and fireman’s escort into Upper Darby. This amazing group of about 40 kids and their directors bring tremendous pride to our school and to our community.
Sadly, the UDHS Indoor Drumline can not afford to go to Dayton. The current financial climate has had a considerable impact on the money we have been able to raise by participating in conventional fundraisers. Because of this, we are unable to afford our basic needs, such as drumsticks, mallets, and musical instruments, all of which are absolutely necessary for the drumline’s success. Also, due to the lack of funding for travel, the ensemble is in danger of not being able to travel to Dayton to compete in the World Championships.
Please consider donating to this great group of kids!
